The Musée des Temps Barbares in Marle, France is located on the site of an excavated Merovingian village. The museum itself houses many of the finds whilst the original village has been faithfully reconstructed in the grounds, along with its graveyard. A farm settlement has also been reconstructed nearby.

This museum hosts one large multiperiod and several single period re-enactment events each year. These are always very well organised, actively promoted and a real pleasure to attend. Alain Nice, who is based in Marle, encourages UK groups to participate.

Details of events are published well in advance on the museum's web site. This site also contains archived photo galleries of previous events going back several years. The quality of the re-enactment equipment is generally very high making a trip to one of the events worthwhile. The museum's web site is http://www.museedestempsbarbares.fr.
